Yard Hostler Responsibilities:

  • Discerning suitable vehicle and container placements.
  • Maneuvering vehicles and containers between areas of our facility.
  • Assisting other Yard Hostlers by directing their vehicular movements, if needed.
  • Transporting materials to the weighing platform.
  • Cleaning and refueling designated vehicles.
  • Sanitizing containers before and after every shipment.
  • Inspecting vehicles to discern potential maintenance needs.
  • Tending to or reporting on maintenance requirements.
  • Stowing equipment away after their use.
  • Maintaining orderliness, communication, and safety in the yard.

Yard Hostler Requirements:

  • High school diploma.
  • Completion of a Yard Hostling apprenticeship is preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience as a Yard Hostler.
  • Receipt of a pertinent commercial driver's license.
  • Ability to perform rudimentary vehicle maintenance.
  • Top-notch coordination techniques.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • A safety-conscious and thorough disposition.
  • Physically fit.
