Associate editors are junior members of publishing teams who perform tasks such as fact-checking, writing, editing, and proofing. They usually work underneath a senior editor and collaborate with other roleplayers in the publication's production, including photographers, researchers, writers, and designers.

When interviewing associate editors, successful candidates will display a sound understanding of writing and style conventions and be able to passionately discuss the publishing industry.
