How to Write a Product Marketing Manager Resume:

1. Write a professional summary.

This should be a short paragraph that provides the recruiter with a brief insight into your career so far, including your education, along with the skills and expertise you have developed and nurtured as a product marketing manager.

Highlight your professional capability and suitability for the advertised position by citing a specific brand or product line that you successfully launched into the market. If possible, include specific metrics, for example, the percentage of market share gained within the first six months of the launch.

2. List your competencies.

List your key skills and competencies. Product marketing managers should have a fairly wide-ranging skillset, from strategic planning to the ability to manage and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key skills to include are analytical thinking, strategic planning, concept development, collaboration, project management, team leadership, proficiency in a variety of data analysis tools, and excellent communication and presentation skills.

3. Add your professional experience.

List your professional work experience in reverse chronological order. Begin with the company name and the job title you held followed by the place and dates of your employment. Then add the key functions you performed and any achievements.

Avoid listing generic, passive descriptions by using action words, such as "created," "launched," and "delivered." Where possible, include outcomes with specific metrics, such as the percentage of market share gained or the increase in sales achieved, to demonstrate your successes and ability to drive results.

4. Add your education.

In the education section of your resume, list your highest qualification first along with the name of the educational institution you attended and the dates of attendance. If you are currently studying, add "in progress" ahead of the dates.

Most employers expect a product marketing manager to have at least a bachelor's degree in marketing but will often prefer candidates with a master's degree. Since the role also requires great business acumen, holding an MBA is advantageous.

5. Add your certifications.

List any certifications you have earned in the course of your career. This might include a Certified Product Marketing Manager™ (CPMM™) credential obtained from the Association of International Marketing and Management (AIPMM) or certificates that acknowledge your skills and proficiency in using software tools, such as Google Analytics, User Testing, Mixpanel, and MS Excel.

6. List any achievements or awards.

Add any notable achievements, such as an AME award for an innovative campaign you managed from concept development to successful execution or a strategy you developed that turned a seemingly failing product line into a market leader in its category. Be sure to include specific metrics to convey the significance of the achievement.
